November Poem

The ice blue sky

Rolled to grey–

The white clouds darkening,

Filling, threatening below.

Animals scampering, hiding,

Looking for shelter,

Searching beneath blankets

Of leaves and pine needles.

The slow release–

A splatter of drops, building

Thunder growling, moving closer—

Lightning illuminating through the greyness.

Tree branches whipping,

Their leaves rattling.

The eventual torrent, drowning

The earth.

Newly formed rivers

sweeping through the tall

yellowing grasses,

Whose tips move to kiss the ground.

Then suddenly stopping…

Drying…

Silence…

Animals peek from beneath shelters

As the world turns green.

Le ciel bleu glacé

Roulé au gris–

Les nuages blancs s'assombrissent,

Remplissage, menaçant en dessous.

Les animaux gambadent, se cachent,

À la recherche d'un abri,

Cherchant sous les couvertures

De feuilles et d'aiguilles de pin.

La libération lente–

Une éclaboussure de gouttes, construisant

Tonnerre grondant, se rapprochant—

Des éclairs éclairant à travers la grisaille.

Branches d'arbres fouettant,

Leurs feuilles claquent.

L'éventuel torrent, noyé

La terre.

Rivières nouvellement formées

balayant le haut

herbes jaunies,

Dont les pointes bougent pour embrasser le sol.

Puis s'arrêtant brusquement...

Séchage…

Le silence…

Les animaux jettent un coup d'œil sous les abris

Alors que le monde devient vert.
